Ack, I hate critiquing better artists than myself (because inevitably someone will feel the need to whiteknight) but the hand is too big. Serval's have very small dainty feet to begin with, and while the very large ears might hide the fact, I can't help but continuously compare the paw to face size.
Otherwise, I very much love the piece, all the color, shading, texture and other proportions look great. The hand probably doesn't even need to be much smaller, but it really sticks out to me.
*belatedly* That's ok! I was using a quick shot I took of myself for the hand, so it may be kinda large, though the actual hand itself is smaller than the face. The claws add some visual length, plus the character is not fully serval, not very dainty at all in fact. Anyway, I never mind a critique, so feel free to do so whenever!
Thanks. I really love your work, and I usually try to avoid critiquing other people's work because I know I sometimes get the occassional post that elaborates on my failings. And there was also that one time I offered a very simple comment to someone about line weight and one of the watchers started flaming me and telling me what a terrible artist I was.
I have to say the paw threw me off as well... It might even be kind of funny if it was a dainty paw and then there was blood and claws. kind of ironic... anyway its just a thought! LOVE the detail on this one!
funny. the same thing happened to me. it was so much the artist as one of her fans totally jumped on my back with a meat cleaver.. I totally appologized and made friends but I wont make the same mistake twice! some people just cannot chill... lol!
